Within the many types of compliance/practice vying for corporate bodies’ attention and finances, whether labelled as Carbon Reduction, Net Zero, Sustainability, or ESG practices, the Business world is demanding changes both physically and ethically. Cooperation and communication are growing annually with other business entities/partners to foster mutual transparency, sharing good practices where possible in our business operations.
Lindapter has and continues to methodically assess the business climate around the environment and carbon reduction, and reporting practices, implementing improvements where appropriate or feasible. We work within ISO 9001 and 14001:2015 with Ethical Business practices, both with integrity and transparency, where People and our Business Accounting are concerned. In an ever-changing world, our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), along with sustainability practices, are evolving.
Waste - Lindapter International waste has been zero to landfill since 2014 and still recycles and reuses a large percentage of both suppliers’ and our own packaging materials. In FY2024, our Re-use Recycling Rate was 94.3%. We use Valpak to certify our Producer Responsibility Obligations.
Carbon Footprint Reduction - To enable Lindapter to move forward with improvements in ESG practices, investment has been made in the building's infrastructure within the last 7 years. LED lighting has been retrofitted across the site. Gas usage for hot water and inefficient Office heating has been replaced with Climate Control technology, which is electric-powered (Certified Renewable Electricity). The remaining gas installation is fed by Certified Carbon Neutral Gas (Warehouse Heating being investigated as an alternative technology that has matured into a viable alternative).
Our building Electrical Installation has been improved with a large investment to bring the site installation up to date for Fire/Safety considerations, also with a view to enable more accurate measuring of energy units for production to aid future Carbon Reporting with Product EPD, CBAM and ultimately more accurate Carbon Reporting as we grow and accountability and transparency become regulatory requirements.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions - We recognise that metal products can be energy intensive to manufacture; therefore, during the development of new products, our R&D Department use 3D modelling software, FEA and 3D printing to not only reduce waste during the manufacturing process but to also save time and energy during the development process. Prototypes, which were historically manufactured in steel/cast iron, are now, in the first instance, 3D printed using recycled PLA (Polylactic Acid), which is typically derived from renewable plant-based sources. Any waste PLA that is generated is collected and sent back to the manufacturer for recycling and reusing. In addition, finished products should they need to be removed from installation sites are recyclable and should not be included in general waste streams as a still valuable commodity.
In line with our Annual Goals & Objectives programme, given to each Department Head, we have set targets to minimise energy usage and to improve the credentials of operations and products. Regular Health & Safety training goals along with a decent reporting suite, are standard practic,e allied with fair and equal pay and equal opportunities to keep our Culture strong and continuously improving.
Responsible Supply Chain Partnerships-With strong supply chain partnerships, we engage with, we endeavour to understand where our business partners are in their ESG journeys. We also responsibly source FSC® certified materials for our packaging, which augments the recyclable nature of the bulk of products and packaging we use. As part of our sustainability initiatives, we source paper tape, which can be recycled alongside cardboard and have transitioned to fully incorporating cardboard packaging, reducing our plastic usage from 3 tonnes to 500kg in the last 3 years.
Lindapter specialises in developing fixing solutions using a highly skilled Technical Support Team with a long, successful history of designing, developing and manufacturing bespoke solutions. Our products negate the need for welding and all the energy consumed and emissions output at the stages from Preparation to Finish, negating also quality and performance variance possible with welding.
Lindapter will continue to develop responsibly, meeting regulatory requirements and corporate governance in the first instance with Health & Safety, Accounting integrity, transparency and any associated Compliance requirements. Building reduction strategies into GHG Emissions, Carbon reduction and other ESG practices as we absorb the Compliance requirements organically into normal Business Operations, sharing as much information and practice as possible with our Business Partners going forward. Despite ever-increasing cost pressures, we continue to reframe our ESG response and sustainability strategy in a measured and responsible fashion.
