San Francisco 49ers Stadium

Sectors: Structural, Building
Applications: Connecting Pipe Supports and Large Signage

Summary:

The $1.2 billion stadium with 68,500 seats is home to the San Francisco 49ers and is one of the best sports and entertainment venues in the world. Lindapter connections were used on two essential parts of the structure, the signage and the pipe supports.

Lindapter Hollo-Bolts were used to secure the support brackets for the large signs that were installed high up above the stadium. Avoiding drilling and welding meant that site closures and hot work permits were not needed. Moreover, using only simple hand tools allowed a quicker and more convenient installation. Hollo-Bolts are now fully seismic approved by ICC-ES for resisting wind loads and seismic loads.

For the second application, FW Spencer & Son contacted Lindapter for advice on how to connect pipes to the primary structural I-beams. After speaking to one of Lindapter’s technical engineers, FW Spencer & Son promptly received drawings of the proposal that detailed the whole application.

Lindapter Type AF clamps connected support bracket assemblies to the I-beams which then allowed the installation of the pipes. The Type AF clamps connected the brackets to the I-beams, without the need for drilling or welding, eliminating the need for hot work or area closures, which saved the contractors time and money on the project.

Lindapter has been pioneering the design and manufacture of steel-to-steel connections since 1934. The Lindapter pipe supports range includes a variety of solutions for supporting HVAC equipment, pipe work, fire protection/sprinkler systems, suspended ceilings and electrical equipment from structural or secondary beams.
