Leeds Central Square.

Sectors: Structural, Civil
Applications: Structural Connections

Summary:

Hollo-Bolts and braces secured structural hollow sections back to circular hollow sections to form five 27m-tall bowstring trusses. This creates the front of a fully glazed winter garden and suspends a large balcony on level 8. Hollo-Bolts were also used for splice connections of the hollow sections, without the need for drilling or welding and only requiring installation access from one side. The M12 countersunk Hollo-Bolts were specifically chosen for this project because of their industry leading product approvals, high clamping force and discrete architectural finish.

The multi-million pound structure contains around 2000 tonnes of steelwork and various Lindapter connections. Other Lindapter applications include the Type MF decking fixings which were used for suspending building services throughout the 12 storey building.

As a British pioneer with over 80 years’ experience in designing and manufacturing steel-to-steel connections Lindapter has industry leading product approvals. Although Lindapter pioneered the first blind fastener in Bradford in 1934, we strive to develop products and today the Hollo-Bolt range consists of various head types, lengths and finishes.
